Welcome to the Pilkinton page.
The Pilkinton history starts with Florence's parents, Waterhouse and Sarah Anne
Pilkinton. From that union, there were seven children, two sons, Percy and Harry, and five
daughters, Florence, Mary, Emily, Jessie, and Amy. The Pilkintons lived in and around
Rotherham, Yorkshire. Florence was the only one of the family to move away from the area,
by emigrating to Australia.

Waterhouse was also known by the nick name Wart. He was a rope maker by profession. Apparently he was not too keen on his given name and later in life changed it to George. Sarah Anne was also known as Sally. Percy was killed in the closing stages of World War I. Both Harry and Waterhouse died within a week of one another, in the 1927 Flu epidemic. So within a short space of time, the Pilkinton's lost all the men in the family.
